In September 1998, BCNswing was established as a non-profit association. It was born with the intention of promoting this dance in Barcelona and later expanding it throughout Catalonia and beyond.
The association also aims to be a meeting point for people interested in these topics. We feel like a community, and together with our members, participants, volunteers, organizers, and Board of Directors we collectively organise dance socials. We want the association to be a cornerstone, a place where these dances can be organised, promoted, and shared, so more people can enjoy them. We prioritise live music to ensure the highest quality parties and events.
We also aim to maintain constant contact with other clubs and associations in Europe and the United States sharing similar goals, as well as promote exchanges between dancers from countries around the world.
We invite you to visit our website, where you can learn more about us and check the calendar to see "almost all the swing-related events" happening in Catalonia.

Following the latest trends of more sustainable festivals, the BLE team also shares those principles.
We understand that there are certain things that are impossible in practice, but there are others that are achievable with just a small effort, and those are the ones we want to promote.
Firstly, we encourage the use of public transportation to reach the parties. They are easily accessible by metro or urban buses, with a cost of just over €1 per journey (T-Casual for 1 zone). The metro closes at 2 AM on Fridays, and operates throughout the night on Saturdays. There are also night buses throughout the night covering most areas.
Another recommendation is to avoid using single-use plastics. We can start with the two night time parties at the Casino. We will provide water, and you can bring your own reusable cup.
It's a fair deal, isn't it?
The spirit of an Exchange is not only dancing but also exchanging experiences and cultures, being hosted is the best way of enjoying that spirit. If you are visiting Barcelona and would like a local Lindy Hopper to host you in their home, you can fill in the hosting request form, stating that you are looking for accommodation. We will try to get as many spots as possible.
Similarly, if you live in Barcelona and want to host a Lindy Hopper coming from abroad, you can also fill in the same form, stating that you are offering accommodation, and which type.
Please fill in the form well in advance so we can try to match all requests as soon as possible.
- Get in touch with your guest in advance so you are aware of the date and time of their arrival.
- On this website you will find information on how to get from the airport to the city centre, but remember to give them specific directions to your house.
- If your guest needs to bring items such as towels, sheets, sleeping bag, etc. remember to let them know in advance, and also let them know if they will sleep in a bed, sofa or sofa bed, etc.
- Do not worry if you cannot cook (you can always opt for some ‘pa amb tomàquet’ 🙂 ) or if you do not have a car: it’s not your responsibility to feed them everyday or take them on a tour around Barcelona, but it will surely be appreciated if you give them directions about public transportation, landmarks, supermarkets and restaurants in your area.
- Also, the whole point is that your guest stays with you during the Barcelona Lindy Exchange, but if they request to staying longer you should discuss it beforehand in order to avoid any misunderstandings.

- Let your host know when will you be arriving/leaving.
- Please ask if you need to bring items such as towels, toiletries, sheets, sleeping bag, etc.
- If your host can not show you to all the socials or parties ask if they could give you directions to the various locations of the events (and especially for getting back home afterwards).
- Similarly, remember that food is not included in the housing, so ask your host about the nearest supermarkets, grocery shops or restaurants.
- Please be tidy and clean and remember that it never hurts to bring your host a small gift, such as a delicacy or a souvenir from your city.
- And most importantly… enjoy these days of swing dancing and good vibes in Barcelona!
Please check out the Barcelona tourist safety tips page here for essential information on ensuring you have a successful and safe visit, while respecting the local community. Also remember Barcelona in September is still very sunny and warm, so remember some basic heat management tips: like staying hydrated, using sun blocker cream, packing a hat and staying in the shade to cool down. Public water fountains are safe to drink and a great way to refill your reusable bottle.
